Well, I took the plunge, and finally created #dAFinishers (https://www.deviantart.com/dafinishers) I expect it will take time to get going, but I'm as patient as I am excited. Even if it serves just a small handful of artists, it should be a great tool.  I see a lot of mentoring possibilities with it. Anyway, if you have stuff in your gallery, scraps, or laying around on your computer that you'd like others to play with, improve, or otherwise take it for an artistic spin around the block, join the group and submit it to the Inbox! Likewise, keep watching the Inbox, and be generous with your spare time and talents!

I have an idea for something that I wish existed on dA (or anywhere for that matter). How many times have you looked at a decent piece of art, critiqued it in your mind, and knew exactly what it needed to be better, or even, dare I say, perfect?  Conversely, how many times have you created a piece of art that you knew was decent, but you also knew that a master out there somewhere could make short work of it - perhaps even with something simple, like a few well placed strokes? We already have the two-step coloring concept, as with the %color-me-club (https://www.deviantart.com/color-me-club), where the line artist provides the skeleton upon which other artists 'improve'.  The l

Shading and Highlighting Fluids Anyone, please add to this, correct me, whatever. I'm not an expert on the subject (far from it), these are just my observations. One of the biggest mistakes people make when painting fluids is to shade the entire fluid as if it is a solid. The liquid itself, especially if it is semi-opaque, has a color gradient of its own. Use only these colors to shade, and do that as you would any 3D object with a light source.  These colors can be very smooth gradients, don't worry about that, even if the "almost end" product looks very dull.  For transparent fluids, clear or colored, the "other side" must be colored, and

Remember how I was going to do a flats tutorial?

It turns out that there actually already is a tutorial that uses the same process I do for flatting - [link]

I won't be making a new one as I'm leaving the Flats group, and there's no need for repetition since there's already a good tutorial.

Hope that helps you and good luck with your flatting.
Thank you, that's an excellent tutorial, straightforward and to the point. Sorry you're leaving the flats group, but thank you very much for your time and the direction you've given me.
thanks for the fave!
Well, your stuff is kind of easy to fave - love your work, it's brilliant.
